VAT Exemption and 247Assist Products

Supporting our loved ones can be a strain and expensive. Here at 247Assist we like to make things easier for you. We keep the prices for our services fair and sensible, and we keep an eye out for other ways to help relieve your financial burden.

VAT Exemption is a relief put in place to give a little extra support to those who are chronically sick or living with disabilities.

Usually if you’re chronically sick or disabled you’ll still have to pay VAT on purchases you make, however, VAT relief is available on a limited number of goods and services specific to chronically sick or disabled people.

If you’re entitled to buy VAT-free goods, we'll not charge you VAT on our eligible products.

Do I qualify for VAT Exemption on 247Assist products?

The good news is that a large part of our customer base may well be eligible for VAT exemption! There are a few conditions, like your present health status and needing to fill out a written self declaration form, but on the whole the process is very simple and our advisors will be on hand to help you.

The UK government website states:

'You’ll only be able to have eligible goods VAT-free if you’re chronically sick or disabled and the goods are for your personal or domestic use. You do not need to be registered disabled or eligible for any other benefit to qualify for VAT-free goods.

For VAT purposes, you are chronically sick or disabled if you have a:

  • Physical or mental impairment which has a long term and substantial adverse effect on your ability to carry out everyday activities
  • Condition that the medical profession treats as a chronic sickness (that’s a long term health condition)

If you’re not sure if your condition means you’re chronically sick or disabled you may wish to consult your doctor or other medical adviser.'

Some examples of eligible conditions (amongst others) are:

  • Dementia
  • Parkinson's Disease
  • Stroke
  • Epilepsy
  • Cancer
  • Diabetes
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Angina
  • Arthritis
  • Blindness or partially sighted
  • Deafness or hard of hearing
  • Any terminal illness
